Introduction

EnviroLink logoThe EnviroLink Committee is comprised of city employees and community members who recognize the importance of making the right choices to protect and sustain the environment in every aspect of daily life, both at home and at work. The committee practices continuous quality improvement techniques to introduce new ways for employees and residents to reduce, reuse and recycle on a daily basis. This page will provide our community with information to support sustainable decision making.

IllinoisEnviroFlash E-mail Alert System

To better inform the public about ozone, particulates and other air quality matters, the Illinois EPA and the Partners for Clean Air Coalition have launched IllinoisEnviroFlash, an e-mail alert system that delivers air quality information straight to an individual’s inbox.

Subscribers who sign up at www.illinois.enviroflash.info will receive alerts with the Air Quality Index (AQI) forecasts for the closest forecasting city based on zip code. Alerts also come when ozone or particulate pollution is expected to be unhealthy. Subscribers select the level of information they receive, whether daily or just on days when air quality reaches specific levels.

Visit the EnviroFlash web site for more information.

Cool Ride - Clean Choice Window Cling

Do you drive a hybrid or other "green" vehicle? If so, be sure to let the world know about your environmentally friendly decision by placing a "Cool Ride - Clean Choice" window cling on your vehicle's window. This sticker is available at the Finance Department Window in the Municipal Center. Or you can download a PDF of the window cling and print it out yourself and save some gas and emissions!

Environmental Quick Tips

Check here for tips that you can use at work and at home to help save the environment.

  • Environmental Quick Tip #1: Fuel Economy -
If you have a car with fuel injection, DO NOT press the gas pedal to start the engine; you will only waste fuel and inhibit your car's performance.
  • Money Saving Tips (PDF 166 KB)  -
The City of Naperville has partnered with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to provide the Weatherization Assistance Program.

Environmental Tip Sheet

For a set of quick tips full of simple and effective ways to save money and help the environment please click here (PDF 116 KB). The tips are printed "4 up" so you can print a single piece of paper, hopefully on post-consumer recycled paper, and cut it into four copies to share with friends and family.

Educational Program

On November 29, 2007, an educational program was held for residents and city employees.

“This program provided practical, money-saving tips that can be used immediately to protect our environment and preserve our natural resources for future generations,” said Chief Procurement Officer and EnviroLink Committee Chair Michael Bevis.

A panel of experts answered questions and recommended best practices for everyday life on a variety of topics including water use, use of electrical power, vehicle fuel consumption, recycling, green buildings and how to shop for recycled products.

A few of their presentations, which can be viewed using Adobe Acrobat Reader, are linked below:
